Joseph Minsterman was recruited into the 7th NJ Volunteers on March 29, 1864 at the age of 20. Durnig his enlistment he was transferred from Co. A to E, and survived the war, being discharged on July 17, 1865. While we have no record of what he did after the war, we know he was a member of his local GAR (Grand Army of the Republic), and married a woman named Betsey Corby. He was a resident of Randolph, NJ until his death at the age of 69.

He is buried with his wife in the Millbrook Methodist Cemetery in Randolph, NJ.
