Historic Village at Allaire: Civil War Day

Saturday June 2nd, & Sunday June 3rd

10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Join the Historic Village at Allaire as we welcome the Civil Skirmish and Encampment Group to our grounds as they re-enact life during the Civil War. Travel back in time this year as the "Crossroads to Gettysburg" is reenacted throughout various areas of the village. Join the crowds in watching and participate in military drills, meet President Lincoln, and converse with influential military figures. Learn about the lives of soldiers and civilians. A skirmish between Confederate and Union Troops will take place in the heart of the village!

Event fee of $5 per car (to benefit The Historic Village at Allaire's educational programming). Other donations appreciated.

Juneteenth in Morristown

Saturday, June 9th

Celebrate Juneteenth when enslaved African Americans in the South finally gained freedom after the Civil War in 1865.  On the Morristown Green, The Morristown United Methodist Church, and at the Church of the Redeemer, with Civil War encampment events at Historic Speedwell in Morristown.

Activities at four locations throughout the day:

Historic Speedwell (10 am to 5 pm) Civil War Encampment, Musket Drills, Battle Re-enactment, Story time, Quilting demonstration, Exhibits.  Admission $7/$6/$5

On the Morristown Green ( 1 pm to 3 pm) Colored Troop interpreters, Art activities, Stories and Songs with Kim and Reggie Harris.  FREE

Morristown United Methodist Church (3:30 pm to 5 pm)  “Journey to the Beloved Community:  Community Conversation on Race”  FREE  (discussions, free childcare for children of adults attending, PDC teacher credits)

Church of the Redeemer ( 5 pm to 9 pm)  Music, Food, Family activities, Outdoor movie.  FREE

FREE SHUTTLES:  Between Historic Speedwell and the Morristown Green from 12:45 pm to 5:30 pm

Between Bethel AME Church, the Green and the Church of the Redeemer from 12:45 to 9:30 pm
